I was in a hurry. Stupid things always happen when I’m in a hurry. While slicing a more than lovely ‘everything’ New York Bagels bagel with my lovely 9″ serrated loaf knife, I managed to slice right through the bagel and into my left ring fingertip. Things could have been worse: I could have cut my finger off; I could have severed a nerve (not sure yet if I have or haven’t — the cut is deep); I could have gotten a papercut. That’s right. A papercut would be worse. At least pain-wise. Apart from the bleeding (which took a good 20 minutes to dwindle even with pressue and bandage a-la-McGuyver), it’s not bad at all. No pain, really (should this be alarming, or am I just all grow’d up?). So I write to you using one less finger. Sucks, but could have been worse.
