More Upgrades for Charlie’s Server

I found a great deal on RAM for Charlie’s Server, so I went ahead and bought two 512MB sticks. This should fill out all four RAM slots for Charlie’s Server to exactly half capacity (2GB). I expect them to be delivered within another week.

I also found a great deal on SATA hard drives, so I bought two 10K RPM Raptor drives for Charlie’s server. They should provide a nice, fast, redundant replacement for the current nearly-decade-old 6GB drive that currently provides root.

I’m done spending for the next month or two.

MPlayer on Mac OS X Out of the Box?!

After giving media-video/mplayer a shot without any patches whatsoever, it somehow compiled out of the box. I recall this not to be the case way back when I first took a look at it earlier this year.

More to come shortly. Once I get done with my mid-terms, I should be good to get some Gentoo work done (read: try to get MPlayer keyworded).

The Downside of Taking a Break

I’m slowly making headway on it all, and should be caught up after next weekend. Needless to say, I have something to do besides falling asleep in my less intense classes.

To those who are expecting replies from me but have not yet gotten them: I will get around to you, I assure you.

Cryptography is Come From Greek Word…

Is mean… ‘Secret’. Spent two hours today writing a proof (read: connection between two definitions) of Euler’s totient function. Although I see the function’s connection to cryptography, I’m not sure why I should be so concerned with its proof.

At any rate, I was able to understand and write a concise proof for it, and have moved on to part two (of two) of the homework, which I have declared as completely impossible. Half credit never sounded better.
