Move-In at Washington Street

Apartment Move-In

I recently acquired a lease on an apartment in what is inarguably Norwalk’s most lively area, Washington Street. I picked up the keys on Saturday morning and, with the help of Lina and her parents, I was able to transport all of my things to my new residence by Saturday afternoon. Now Monday, I’ve unpacked everything that needs to be unpacked and most everything has been put in its newly respective place.

The place itself, as shown bare above, is a cozy studio atop a trendy restaurant district in Norwalk. Sure, there’s lots of noise in the area, but I can certainly live with that (borrowing Lina’s speaker system was a great idea). One of the Haviland Arms apartment units, this newly renovated studio is set in a complex first built in 1922, central to Norwalk’s historic district.

Within walking distance is a beach, river, aquarium, plenty of parking, tons of restaurants and cafés, an arts theatre and a movie theatre. Needless to say, there’s a load of things to do in the area. I hope to make the best of it over the coming months.

A special thanks to Alexandra Christofor of Christofor Realty, who was incredibly helpful in finding me the perfect place; the moment I saw it I knew it would be perfect. Thanks Alexandra for everything you’ve done.

In order to make my new apartment habitable, I bought a Klik-Klak Sofa Sleeper. In English, I bought an ultra-modern futon. My only other articles of furniture currently consist of a desk and coffee table erected using my home-depot bought designer stainless steel shelving from my freshman year at college. I managed to build two usable pieces of furniture out of the single four-shelf kit. Hooray for engineering degrees!

Things are finally falling into place for me in my new post-college life. I spent the summer preparing for these coming weeks, when I start my new work life and begin my independence. Full speed ahead!

  • helo-moving to norwalk from atlanta—want to live in charming place on wsshington street-where do i start?

    and whats the rent situation???

    thanks-

flying up tues to check out the area

  • You might try starting with a good realtor. I happened to stumble upon Alexandra at Christofor Realty, and she took great care of me! I would highly recommend her to anyone. If you do talk to her, mention my name.

As for rent, I can’t really tell you exactly what you’d pay for on Washington Street without knowing exactly what you’re looking for. I can tell you, though, that I pay $1150 per month for my 450 square foot studio apartment on the second floor overlooking Washington Street. And that was pretty low for the area, I hear.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with; I’d be happy to help people get acquainted with the area (what with that whole karma thing and all.

  • thanks-lft msg-im just so picky
gotta have 9′ ceilings and a great kitchen..harwood floors etc…..
    i will let u know
    thanks again

  • As you can see, I have heigh (well over 9′) ceilings. My kitchen leaves something to be desired if you’re after gas stoves or a larger kitchen area in general. As you can see in the pictures, my floors are all 16″ tile, which is really nice if you ask me. Much easier to take care of than hardwood, though not as plush, I suppose, depending on your tastes. I’m sure you’ll be able to find something near Washington street that meets your criteria. I’d talk to Alexandra — she’s been great to me!

  • Congratulations on the move-in! We haven’t talked in a long while but we should definitely get together considering Stamford is right next to Norwalk! You still have the cell# ending in 9959? I’ll give you a call soon, inshallah. I want to hear how everything has been for you guys.
